Hossegor has a new hero

By Tom · On April 13, 2016

Hossegor, the home of French surf, from beginner barrels right through to the WSL world tour, there really is something here for everyone. Whether you are just starting out or looking to hone your well earned stripes, Hossegor is the number one stop in France and Europe beyond.

Finding somewhere to stay often can present a problem though, getting the balance between peace and tranquility, yet near enough to the main bars and beaches is a tricky tightrope to walk.

Stand up Shifting Sands Surf Camp, the most established and experienced surf camp in the heart of Hossegor.

Shifting Sands has been in business with the same owner and staff since 2007. The man behind the dream, Paul, and his friendly, knowledgeable team, will make your stay one of the best you’ll find in France.

The surf camp offers a great price for quality all inclusive accommodation. They are located in the best area for surf, surf competitions, and all that Hossegor has to offer, but tucked away enough to enjoy a more exclusive camp feel.

Shifting Sands is probably Europe’s first custom built surfer’s accommodation. With surfers in mind, the camp was built in a tranquil pine forest less than 2km from the best surf beaches in France.

“Here at Shifting Sands we live to surf. We eat to surf, we exercise to surf (yoga, balance training) and we sleep to surf. We even dream about surfing. Everything we do evolves around surfing and because we put so much commitment into surfing, we expect the same from our equipment therefore we supply the most advanced surfboards available today.” Owner Paul told Drift

“We know this coast better than anyone. The sand is always moving and the best waves move along with the sand. It is this constant change that gives us the advantage and the opportunity to find uncrowded, perfect surf. The waves are undiscovered and waiting for you”

“This is every surfers dream, and is a daily reality at Shifting Sands. We are 5km south of the center of Hossegor and its famous nightlife, but if you prefer to relax on the terrace and enjoy a quiet evening and a good night’s sleep before waking early for the morning surf, you can find that here at Shifting Sands too. In fact, at Shifting Sands there are no rules, regulations or restrictions…you set your own limits.” He added.
