A craft beer brewery whose life centres around two of the finer things in life, beer and the ocean, have developed an edible six-pack ring which has left people asking the question “Why didn’t anyone think of this before?”.
The aptly named Saltwater Brewery on Atlantic Avenue in Florida has developed the product utilising barley and wheat left over from the brewing process. Not only are the rings biodegradable but they can also feed the marine wildlife should they end up in the water.
Most plastic six-pack rings end up in our oceans and pose a serious threat to wildlife. The brewery is aiming the product directly at surfers, fishermen and people who love the sea.
“We decided to tackle the issue head on and make a statement for the whole beer industry to follow. We ideated, designed, prototyped and manufactured edible six pack rings. A six-pack packaging design that instead of killing animals, feeds them.” A spokesman from the brewery said.
