European Fish Fry 2010 report

October 05, 2010 | Words By: Staff Writer

In spite of the most pessimistic forecast of the days prior to the 2010 Fish Fry was greeted with beautiful sunny days that have certainly helped the success of the event. Words from Marco, translation by Google.

The personal satisfaction of the organization by SingleFin SEA / / SingleFin.it is naturally a little biased, but I think I can openly say that the two / three-day event was truly a great success for some time as not occurred in Italy for events closely related to surfing, and this must be added the nature totally “soul” and not commercial, that could somehow give rise to some concern in the first organizational steps, did the rest thanks to those who with joy and freedom of spirit that has occurred both on 24 September 25 last.

What can we say about the day on Friday 24? It ‘was an event, for sure. It is not the first time shapers are established in Italy, but one that has managed to create is a kind of iconic moment that could leave a mark. Rich Pavel did not work before the eyes of many enthusiasts have taken for any economic or commercial reasons, to get it in the classroom and to impose the rules of his shaping, as indeed could have, given his immense experience, but only to demonstrate a passion for their work and their desire, even after many years, to share their ideas and, perhaps, to discuss them calmly with anyone willing to argue. The simplicity of the Californian shaper is disarming, as well as his enthusiasm in spite of the enormous number of times you have seen him spend his plane on a blank.

Each of us who are on this earth has their own priorities, in spite of all rule sets, and is one of my surfing, in its many forms and perspectives and I can not say that he had tried in the depths of my soul a little emotion and a little pride by throwing a glance at the faces of those present, sometimes kidnapped by the measured movements of Rich.

One Friday evening, euphemistically described as very intense and has served as a prelude to next Saturday, or our very own D-Day, or perhaps better called FF-DAY. The 2010 European Fish Fry is in the hands of SingleFin almost a year and I honestly always thought that the expectations were quite high, especially for myself.

Much of the concerns he had left early in the morning when a beautiful northwest began to sweep the clear sky from clouds threatening a moderate flood. With the arrival of the first shapers, tables and so many guys also the last doubts have melted in the heat of the sun Versilia: the Italian Fish Fry has been an undoubted success. Thanks to the support organization and certainly the children of the Nimbus Surfing Club, but especially thanks to those who spoke during the day making a true gathering of fans for the sole purpose of having fun and socializing.
The tens and tens of Fish from all over Italy, from half of Europe and the United States, lying on the lawn in front of the Nimbus has attracted surfers and onlookers, as well as retro tables that have to be happy as a side dish of fried mixed at best that the Versilia coast had to offer. As the Americans say: Stoked!

A meeting without competition, just for the sake of being there, without any deception, but rather full of joy, positive attitude, desire to be together and share their passion.
Shapers with their boards and their willingness to try to have their products made from colorful backdrop to an exceptional day. Would be too many moments to describe in these few lines: the arrival of the waves, although contaminated by a strong wind in the afternoon, a barbecue on the beach, music, the joy of those present, given by the international Pavel, Christenson, Kegal , Nakamura, Lobster, Curtis, Lion, Adrian, our Michael, Marco, Pierre, Max, David, whose board has been chosen by the staff LokBox for the award dedicated to the fins, and so on and on.

We do not want this day is exhausted and remains an end in itself but we hope it will represent a new way for Italy to find himself in a surfing with friends and new friends.

  1. Marco so pleased you had such a successful day after all your efforts. Great to see the fish is alive and well in Italy. Thank you for coming down to the Gold Coast to the Alley Fish Fry this year and the time we spent surfing together.

I hope the fish will be spawning each year from now on. Long live the fish and the innovative shapers that have given us such fun boards to ride. They have opened many minds to what they now ride.
