Jeff Rowley joins Curtis Stone and Cathy Freeman to become Cottage by the Sea Ambassador.

What do Celebrity Chef Curtis Stone, Olympic Champion Cathy Freeman and Big Wave Surfer Jeff Rowley have in common? These high profile Australians have been enlisted by Cottage by the Sea as Ambassadors, who give up their own time to support the charity to raise needed funds and share why children in need deserve to have the experience of their lifetime.

Cottage by the Sea is one of Australia’s oldest charities and each year provides short-term beachside holidays and respite care for more than 900 children and families in need. Cottage by the Sea’s most recently appointed Ambassador is Big Wave Surfer and Adventure Athlete Jeff Rowley.

According to Tony Featherston, General Manager of Cottage by the Sea, “The cottage has for many yeasr considered the benefits of having an Ambassador represent it’s interests to the Australian and world surfing community. Jeff through his interest and knowledge of Cottage by the Sea with his public profile has provided us with an opportunity to appoint a new Ambassador with strong links to the surfing world. We believe Jeff has a unique ability to relate to and inspire children“, Featherston said.

Rowley has made an impact on the world stage as a big wave surfer and adventure athlete. Rowley is known for becoming the first Australian to paddle in to and catch gigantic waves at “Jaws” Peahi in January 2012, which also earned him a top five finalist position in the 2012 Oscars of Surfing - the Global Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards in the prestigious ‘Ride of the Year’ category.

On being appointed as an Ambassador for Cottage by the Sea, Rowley said “I’m looking forward to meeting some of the kids, share a couple of waves with them and see their faces light up with smiles when they catch a wave. Cottage by the Sea does an amazing job by giving Aussie kids in need the best holiday of their lives“.

Rowley will work alongside other Ambassadors, Curtis Stone and Cathy Freeman, lending his skills to host surfing lessons and organise local charity events.
