Lanzarote

October 11, 2010 | Words By: Howard

The island of Lanzarote is a mesmeric place, separating itself from the rest of the islands by its distinct landscape and architectural themes. Photographer David Harris shares a few shots.

El Quemao, The Slab, Morro Negro. All these breaks offer the fastest and hollowest of waves in Europe, and yet mixed with the beauty of these islands is a sense of violent creation. Rising from the ocean floor, great cliffs sweep across escarpments and bare testament to a violent geological past.

The island of Lanzarote, only four hours from the UK offers a unique flavour of Spanish culture, art and cuisine. Worth a trip if you like your surf holiday to be something more than the ubiquitous surf camp.
