Yes, it’s a pole that holds your camera. What more do you need to know? Fortunately, after a bit of digging around you will discover that the Kong U Shot offers a whole lot more than a standard selfie stick from your local Poundland. This thing really is a monster…

What is it?

If operated slowly the pole can be used as a dolly type of accessory creating a smooth travelling or sliding effect

It’s like a monopole on steroids (or bananas I suppose in this case). This ultra-lightweight pole can mount any type of camera (up to 3.5kgs) and can rapidly expand from 670mm to 1550mm. It is this expansion that brings the joy to the joust, so to speak. If operated slowly the pole can be used as a dolly type of accessory creating a smooth travelling or sliding effect, a really nice addition to the bog-standard poles in the market.

The Kong (as we will call it from now on) has a high-density foam/rubber grip handle, standard 1/4 inch screws on both ends, is fully waterproof without damaging the slide mechanism and without the camera weighs in at 630g – so probably less than the camera you will mount on it.

It is also compatible with any tripod should you seek to increase the height and go hands-free, plus a number of other products from Xsories including their Tiltee range, which allow you to add some angles to your action, should you need that for your shot.

kongushotThe full tech specs

  • Length: 670-1550 mm
  • Waterproof
  • Max camera weight: 3.5kg

Rad

  • It is another premium product from the Biarritz based manufacturer. The look, feel and build quality is everything you would expect from Xsories.
  • The ability to use the pole for smooth movement shots is definitely cool, but you would need to have still hands or mount the pole somehow.

Bad

  • The price is expensive but this does fall under their pro-range, they also offer cheaper poles in their lifestyle range.
