Switch-Foot II

Drift checks in with Andrew Crockett following the release of the much-anticipated 'Switch-Foot II', a tribute to surfing's counter-culture.

Back in 2005, Andrew Crockett released his first book, 'Switch-Foot: Surfing, Art & Music'. Independently published, it went down a storm in the surf world, and we've been waiting patiently for the follow-up. And late last year, 'Switch-Foot II' finally made it into print.

It's not surprising that it took Mr Crockett a while to get the book together. After the success of 'Switch-Foot' he built a tidy website, www.switch-foot.com, and became more involved in his other passion - music. "We always had this dream of doing live gigs with surfing visuals as a large part of the experience," he explains. With that dream in mind, and working closely with the Band of Frequencies, they've put on gigs in Australia, the US and Japan, and have also worked on several surf film soundtracks including Dave Rastovich's 'Life Like Liquid', Cyrus Sutton's 'Under The Sun', Christiaan Bailey's 'The Hub', Mick Waters' 'Believe', and, more recently, some short films by George Greenough.
