Two pioneers of the British surfing industry, Tiki founders Tim Heyland & Dave Aldrich-Smith, will be the special guests at this year’s UK Vintage Surf Meet at the Museum of British Surfing on Sunday September 1st 2013. Collectors from all over Britain will be displaying their best vintage surfboards – plus there will be the country’s first ever live surf auction.
Tiki’s co-founder Tim Heyland made his first surfboard in 1963, hewn from timber on the beaches of Brazil. Returning to the UK, Tim joined forces with Dave Aldrich-Smith, setting up a pioneering surfboard production business first in South Wales before re-locating to North Devon in 1968.
Devon local and Tiki team rider Andrew Cotton, heads off to Los Angeles for the XXL Awards, nominated in the Biggest Wave Award category for a monstrous wave in Ireland.
Barry Mottershead is one of the foremost chargers of the current Ireland big wave scene. He has taken up position overlooking the waves of Mullaghmore for the winter. Only just back from a Summer in OZ, he has already notched up some epic sessions at the fabled spot, nailing the barrel of the day in the most recent XXL swell.
Tiki International, the Devon based wetsuit and surfboard company, have added Andrew Cotton to their team.
Four - yes FOUR - of the world’s best shapers will be visiting North Devon this summer as part of Tiki’s International Shaper Tour 2009.
