Pay to surf as Gold Coast takes on water rage

gold_coast_thumbSurfers in Australia’s Gold Coast could be charged to hit the waves and further fined for breaking rules if a city council ‘surf management’ plan gets the green light.

The ideas have been raised after a series of ‘surf rage’ incidents and overcrowded breaks are ruining the experience for many.

Other suggestions thrown into the hat include creating more artificial reefs to ease the pressure and giving lifeguards more power to deal with such incidents.
