Surfers for Cetaceans are committed to activating ocean-minded people everywhere to support the conservation of whales, dolphins and marine life. It’s through compassion, awareness, education, media and dedicated interventions they make their mark, seeking to be a human voice and defender of cetaceans worldwide.
Sunday 17th July is the date for a very special evening following on from the International Whale Celebration; a week of positive and cultural events to highlight the beauty of whales and raise awareness about their ongoing plight at the hands of whaling nations, navy sonar and pollution. Surfers for Cetaceans will be there to lead celebrations and present Minds in the Water at its UK premier.
The International Whale Celebration is taking place on Jersey and coinciding with the 63rd annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission so important updates regarding yearly whale quotas will be available at this event held in the heart of the UK surfing scene; Newquay.
6-8pm: Café Irie are hosting a vegetarian buffet, with live art and music happening.
8-10pm: Head down to Newquay cinema for the first screening event of its kind at this great new venue.
Minds in the Water documents Rasta’s five-year journey from apathetic pro to respected ocean activist, and features epic surf footage alongside a vital environmental message. S4C members will host a live Q&A session after the screening.
10pm onwards: Finally, join the crew for live bands, raffle giveaway and live auction at the Chy Bar; hosted by Chicks with Sticks.
All profits will go to Surfers for Cetaceans.
Limited VIP tickets are £20 which gets you into all three venues and complimentary Irie drink. A number of screening + afterparty tickets are available for £15. Tickets available from Newquay cinema box office or 08712003304.
