Justis St. John chasing down a swell in Peru last week and scoring some great footage.
“A good friend of mine, Jonathan Gubbins invited me down with the hope of finding some new waves and ended up scoring this point he has never surfed before.” Justis said about the film
“I thought it’s a unique view to the huge swells that blast thru Jaws/Mavericks and how that translates when they land in South America.” he added.
Justis was in Cabo Blanco, the video was shot at a random spot that came alive after the swell trundled through.
Cabo Blanco is a is a fishing village in north west Peru and is home to some truly world-class waves. Locals have nicknamed the spot as the Peruvian Banzai Pipeline. It takes around five days for a big swell in Hawaii to drive its way through to here and in the good old days a phone call from the US was enough to know when the happy times were rolling in.
