The London College of Fashion have welcomed King Kelly Slater as founder of his brand Outerknown to their annual Kering Talk on sustainable fashion in London.
Kering, a group of high-profile sport and luxury brands as diverse as Gucci to Electric, team up with the London College of Fashion to deliver a yearly talk on the latest developments in the area of sustainable fashion.
In between competing in Portugal and the upcoming Pipe Masters Slater sloped off to London to deliver his speech and vision for feasible fashion with his newly launched venture Outerknown.
Hats off to Kelly as he has set his stool out from the start and seems to be sticking to it
Slater outlines his ideals for the business, driving home the fact that he didn’t want to just create the next big surf brand, rather he wanted to create something long term and something that was light years away from the high volume, low margin that people have come to expect from the industry.
Hats off to Kelly as he holds his ethics highly and despite detractors commenting that most surfers will not be able to afford the clothing at least he has set his stool out from the start and seems to be sticking to it.
