Todo esto en una pantalla enorme para poder disfrutar bien agusto de las fotos y videos, pero tambien podreis ver una pequeña exposicion de fotos impresas, en el hall del teatro para amenizar la espera mientras que empiece todo.

All cool… but what about that last surf of 2009? Mmmm… fancy a little paddle race? The guys who run the Longboard Festival de Salinas are putting the first of what is expected to become a classic: the San Silvestre Surfera Playa de Salinas. On December the 31st grab your chunkiest board (all boards are accepted, from under 7’0s to SUPs) and paddle along a nice stretch of Asturian coastline in the company of plenty of like-minded friends, from the nearby Playa de Arnao to Salinas.

The inscription is free –at the Club Náutico de Salinas from 10am on the same day- and you’ll get a tee-shirt and some hot and steamy chocolate con churros on your arrival. There’ll be prices for the top 3 of each category and lots of that same joyful spirit that has made the Salinas Festival famous worldwide.

Niegà

Es abrigarse, es la mejor luz del año. Es cafés calientes viendo una mar cabreada. Es un paseo mañanero por Oviedo en un día lluvioso. Es Amagüestu – sidra dulce, castañas y musica folk. Es viento Sur, es hacer kilómetros. Es buscar lugares resguardados donde entrar con el tablón. Es surfear solo. Es la alegría de volver a ver de nuevo a Tony Butt, es conocer a gente nueva. Es sesiones de olas grandes, es occidente y oriente a la vez. Es verdes y marrones, es paisaje, es Asturias en su máxima expresión.

Se nota que es mi época preferida del año?

Ocupen sus asientos, el otoño está a punto de empezar.

Autumn is a time of change. It’s shelter and the best light of the year. Hot coffee in front of a raging sea. It’s an Oviedo morning walk on a rainy day. It´s Amagüestu – sweet cider, roasted chestnuts and folk music. South wind, driving for miles. It’s seeking sheltered places where I can go with my longboard. Surfing alone. It’s good to see Tony Butt again. It’s meeting new people. It’s big-wave sessions, west and east simultaneously. Green and brown, landscape, Asturias at its best.

Desde el principio trate de reflejar todo lo que veia en la playa y que tanto me impresionaba: La luz de ultima hora de la tarde, las olas enormes de los temporales de Invierno,  el Longboard, Line ups…dar una visión general del mar, del surf, y de todo lo que le rodea.Captar la fuerza y la belleza del océano, y la relación del hombre con el mar a traves del surf. Actualmente sigo en proceso de aprendizaje, fijandome en el trabajo de los mejores fotógrafos de surf y de otras disciplinas y descubriendo poco a poco nuevos lugares y nuevos puntos de vista de los sitios de siempre.

Jaider was born 24 years ago in a suburb of Aviles, located in the Central Coast of the Spanish North Shore. He started taking photographs at the same time he started surfing – age 21 he bought his first digital camera. Ever since, he has tried to capture every tiny detail he finds on the beach, as well as the bigger moments that impress him: sunsets, big waves from the winter swells, longboards, line-ups… He aims to capture the beauty and the power of the ocean and its interaction with men, expressed through surfing. Keeping his mind always open, Jaider is discovering new places and becoming aware of new perspectives on the old views he revisits.
