March 19, 2013 | Words By:

Featuring 24 clean-up sites in 10 different regions of Chile, the second annual “Unidos Por Aguas Limpias” (United for Clean Water) campaign is preparing for an unprecedented day of nationwide community coastal stewardship on March 23, 2013.

As part of the Fuerza Chile! United for Clean Water Campaign, more than 600 volunteers gathered at 16 sites in nine regions on March 24th, 2012 to cleanup and restore beaches and coastal areas throughout Chile. In an unprecedented day of cleanups, volunteers removed nearly 9,000 pounds of trash and debris (more than 500 bags), cleaning and restoring beaches, river mouths, and estuaries along more than 15 miles of Chilean coastline. Following the devastating earthquake-tsunami of 2010, coastal communities throughout Chile rebuild, which also means continuing to care for the coast and ocean. United for clean water.
