Mullaghmore has seen another near perfect session dishing out solid 12ft to 15ft sets alongside a few beatings to boot, unusually though this session went down with virtually no wind.

With big swells we nearly always get wind which is why towing is a big part of surfing here but for everyone paddling is what we want to do.

Some great waves were ridden this session and it was really great to see a strong Irish crew taking it on with international visitors from all over the world. People like Fiona Cronin, Mark Killeen, Seamus O’Rian, Aron Reid and local standout Conor Maguire really pushing themselves.

It’s great to see our big waves being taken on at such a high level by home grown surfers.

Mark Killeen before an inside double up that he ate pretty hard. He is now out injured for a few months so hopefully he will come back strong.

A big shift has occurred in the last couple of winters that’s seen the levels of paddle surfing here in Ireland really pushed to match what’s happening all over the world.

I really believe that it won’t be long until the ride of the year category is dominated by rides at Mullaghmore and the possibilities are really endless when it comes to what can be ridden out there. I’m stoked to be able to be part of this exciting time in surfing here is Ireland.
