Thomas Campbell was born in Laguna Beach, California in 1969. He is a self-taught painter, sculptor, photographer, filmmaker and music producer.
The nexus of Campbell’s creative centric life was nurtured by skateboarding culture in the 1980’s and 90’s. Campbell has mounted solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, Tokyo, Denmark, The Netherlands, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Morocco.
During his time spent in New York in the 1990’s, Thomas was involved and showed with the Alleged Gallery. In that context he became associated with a group of artists that would go on to be loosely defined by the Beautiful Losers exhibition in 2004.
Currently Campbell spends most of his time in his home studio in Bonny Doon, California working on paintings, sculpture and other artistic junk.
From 1997 to 2009 Campbell produced and directed three feature length surf films The Seedling, Sprout and The Present. The filming of which has taken him to the far corners of the earth (Indonesia, Cape Verde, Sri Lanka, South Africa and New Zealand to name a few).
