Guéthary is an unsung hero for a French getaway and has (clearly) formidable surf, situated a stones throw from where France crashes into Spain, this is Basque country through and through. For centuries the local population fished and whaled from the village although nowadays its popularity comes through tourism and in particular Parisians who ‘don’t do the Rivera.’
