Legendary shaper and inventor of the iconic Bonzer, the pioneering three-fin surfboard, Malcolm Campbell is set to return to England in June for a breathtaking shape-athon.
Malcolm will be crafting for two weeks at the Toy Factory in Newquay, he and the team are really pleased to be working with ‘one of the best factories in the UK’.
As well as Newquay the tour will be visiting Portugal (MSD Surfboards) and they are also hopping over to Ireland (‘the Bonzer promised land’) to catch up with some of their valued customers including Fergal Smith.
The Bonzer is the archetype of the modern surfboard. It was the first tri-fin surfboard built in 1970. Although unbeknownst to Malcolm and his two sons, others were working on a three fin designs of their own.
“There was a big difference between the two fin setups. They had half moon shaped side fins placed behind the center fin, and our keel shaped side fins were placed forward of the center fin. Over four decades of success for the Bonzer and we have demonstrated the archetypal nature of our original design concept.” Malcolm said about the Bonzer journey.
